Charges of domestic battery against Illinois defensive lineman Lere Oladipo have been dismissed, according to a report from The News-Gazette.

Per the report, Assistant State’s Attorney Brooke Hinman dismissed the charges against Oladipo after the alleged victim and witness changed their stories. Oladipo was facing three misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.

Oladipo was arrested on Oct. 28 by University of Illinois police after an argument with his girlfriend. The charges alleged that he pushed her, grabbed her arm and caused her to have a cut on her lip.

At a bond modification hearing, the alleged victim claimed that Oladipo did not abuse her and that there was no prior history of abuse. According to the report, she also wanted to continue to be around him.

Following his arrest, Oladipo was immediately suspended from the team and missed the final month of the 2018 season. He played in four games for the Illini this season, recording seven total tackles.
