Though it’s a little later than expected, Illinois is getting a much-needed boost at the wide receiver position.

Friday, Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer confirmed that Missouri City (Texas) wide receiver Dalevon Campbell has committed to Illinois. That’s a nice addition for the team considering the depth issues at the position entering the 2019 season.

Though Campbell has been a bit of an unknown on the recruiting circuit, at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, the Texas native brings an excellent frame and build to the wide receiver room.

Campbell becomes the 15th member of Illinois’ 2019 recruiting class. Lovie Smith and his staff were also very active on the transfer market, landing five players from the transfer portal. Illinois’ class ranked 59th nationally and 13th in the B1G.

Illinois will host Akron to open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31.
