The B1G is already dealing with one cancellation in Week 2, and a report from late Thursday evening may have another weekend matchup in jeopardy.

Playing during COVID-19 has proven tricky for every team and conference. That proved true in the B1G after an outbreak within Wisconsin’s football program.

Among the Badgers to test positive were head coach Paul Chryst, making him the second head coach along with Purdue’s Jeff Brohm to test positive. The outbreak within Wisconsin led to the cancellation of the Wisconsin-Nebraska showdown.

Late Thursday evening, reporter Ryan Evan with Illini Pulse indicated that the Illini are dealing with “multiple positives” just days before Saturday’s scheduled game against Purdue. Those reported positives must be confirmed:

Without further information, it is hard to predict what could be the outcome for Illinois’ scheduled game against Purdue. Multiple tests could still mean a low number, and it is always possible some – or all – of the initial positives come back as false-positives.

Hopefully this does not lead to another cancellation in the conference. Stay tuned to Saturday Tradition for more details.
