Report: Illinois hoops preparing to host own multi-team event
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced college athletic programs and athletic directors to get creative with scheduling. That’s certainly the case in the world of college basketball.
Illinois is taking a proactive approach to scheduling for the 2020-21 season, and is planning to host its own multi-team event this year. CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported the news on Monday.

Per Rothstein, the event will be held at the State Farm Center in Champaign from Nov. 25-27. It will feature four teams and there will be three games played in a round-robin format.
Other teams that will be participating in the event have not yet been named.
With several early-season tournaments and multi-team events being moved or postponed, or seeing teams drop out, there’s opportunities for other schools to host these events. It appears the Illini want to take advantage.
