One of the top freshman basketball players in the B1G from last season has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Jeff Borzello of ESPN and other news outlets reported that freshman guard Adam Miller has decided to enter his name into the database. He played a huge role for the Illini in his first year with the program, appearing in all 31 games.

Miller averaged 8.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 39.1% from the field. He was on the floor over 25 minutes per game and had some big games throughout the course of his freshman season.

Miller scored in double figures in his first three games in Champaign, dropping a season-high 28 points in the opener against North Carolina A&T. He scored in double digits 13 times this season and scored 18 points in a win over Nebraska — his highest point total against a B1G opponent.

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Peoria was expected to be a key piece in Illinois’ team next season, especially with Ayo Dosunmu moving on to the NBA. He can still return to Illinois if it’s in his best interest.

Illinois ended the season with a 24-7 record and finished second in the B1G regular season standings at 16-4. The Fighting Illini went on to win the B1G Tournament and earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
