It looks like Illinois head coach Brad Underwood might wind up losing two assistants to Kentucky this offseason.

It has already been reported that assistant coach Orlando Antigua is expected to return to UK, though Illinois reportedly made a strong counteroffer to keep Antigua. He previously served on John Calipari’s staff from 2009-14.

Now, on Monday it is being reported that Illini assistant Ron “Chin” Coleman is also expected to leave Illinois for Lexington. According to Chris Fisher with 247 Sports, Coleman has informed Underwood of his decision.

Both losses would be tough for an Illinois squad coming off of its best season under Underwood, but the loss of Coleman is particularly notable. According to the Illini, Coleman works with the guards and was “instrumental in the development of Ayo Dosunmu.” Dosunmu is widely expected to be a first-round draft pick this summer.

Should both Antigua and Coleman move on, it will be interesting to see how Underwood and company fill those voids this offseason.
