Reserve Illinois wideout enters transfer portal, per report
An Illinois wideout has decided to enter the transfer portal.
Per Joey Wagner of 247Sports, Fighting Illini receiver Jafar Armstrong has entered the transfer portal. He originally transferred to Illinois in January after being with Notre Dame but did not receive a lot of playing time.
Per Wagner, Armstrong played just 3 offensive snaps this year and did not record a catch.
Armstrong was with the Fighting Irish for 4 seasons totaled 807 yards in 31 career games. He was used as both a running back and a wide receiver during that time.
Of those 807 yards, 513 of them came on the ground. He also had 294 receiving yards on 30 receptions throughout his time in South Bend.
Before that, Armstrong was a 3-star recruit, per his 247Sports Composite. He was in the class of 2017 and was ranked as the No. 2 player from his home state (Kansas).
He was also the No. 69 receiver in the nation and the No. 471 overall recruit in the nation, regardless of position.
