Another Illinois Fighting Illini productive defender is set to transfer.
Sophomore safety Patrick Nelson will transfer from Illinois, after the school granted his release to transfer on Tuesday.
Nelson has two years of eligibility remaining. According to 247 Sports’ Illini Inquirer, Nelson will graduate after spring semester, meaning he would be a graduate transfer and be immediately eligible to play at his next school.
