Salary details revealed for Brad Underwood’s new contract with Illinois

The salary details are now public for Illinois basketball coach Brad Underwood’s new contract. Illinois recently announced a contract extension for Underwood that will run through 2027.
WCIA3’s Bret Beherns is reporting that Underwood will earn $4.1 million the next two years, followed by up to $4.5 million when the contract concludes.

Underwood has coached at Illinois since 2017. In that span, Underwood has amassed a 71-56 record at the helm for Illinois. Illinois has won 20+ games in the past two seasons. Last season, Illinois won 24 games and reached the round of 32. Illinois captured the Big Ten tournament title in 2021.
Underwood had previous stints at Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma State. Underwood has an overall coaching record of 123-89. Underwood has a 3-4 record in the NCAA tournament.
Illinois begins the season with a home matchup vs. Rutgers.
