Solomon Turner has not had an easy life. However, that all changed when he was adopted by his uncle Scott Turner per Jeremy Werner of 247Sports.

Scott has been his adoptive father since 2009. Solomon originally committed to Baylor, but transferred to Hawaii before finally transferring to Illinois where Scott played. He is now entering into his sophomore season, and has appeared in 13 games for the Fighting Illini. Solomon started off at TE this season, but has now switched to DB.

“Had it not been for my uncle and my aunt, I don’t know where I would be,” Solomon said. “Personally, it just means the world to me, not only for him to be my father figure, but to come here and do this part, it’s almost like I’m giving back to him like a thank you. Sometimes, despite how I feel, despite how the day’s going, it’s just good to know and remember that, ‘Hey, you got two people in your corner who have always been there for you.”

Scott played at Illinois from 1991-1994, and Solomon would love nothing more than to continue his legacy. Solomon was a 3-star DB out of high school per the 247Sports Composite.

“Just me putting on the jersey and sending [Scott] pictures from photoshoots, it was just surreal to him. It’s just a big deal for him just because I get to carry on the legacy. All the pictures of me when I was a little kid in the Illinois hats start to make sense now that I’m 21.”
