Illinois added another prospect to its 2021 recruiting class on Monday.

St. Louis native and 3-star wide receiver Chevy Brenson announced on Monday that he has given his verbal pledge to Illinois. He becomes the 16th player of the recruiting cycle to commit to Lovie Smith and the Fighting Illini.

Brenson announced his decision with a video posted on Twitter.

Per 247Sports, Brenson is listed as a 6-foot-4, 195-pound wide receiver. He ranks as the No. 17 player from the state of Missouri and is listed as the No. 140 wide receiver in the class, as well.

Brenson received offers from 21 total programs. He picked Illinois over Army, Kansas State, Memphis, Colorado State and others.

With Brenson’s commitment, Illinois receives a bump in the recruiting rankings. The Illini sit 56th nationally and 11th in the B1G.
