Tarique Barnes registers lightning-quick sack of Spencer Petras in clutch situation for Illinois
Tarique Barnes was able to almost get to Iowa QB Spencer Petras untouched on first down. Petras barely had anytime to react to the quick hit from Barnes.
Petras snapped the ball under center, and there must have been some kind of miscommunication between the offensive linemen for Iowa because it was almost like someone forgot to block him.
This might have been the fastest sack of the season 😤⚡️@IlliniFootball pic.twitter.com/cvx0iBvuMA

Barnes has been with Illinois since 2019. He has appeared 35 total games for the Fighting Illini.
Barnes has played in four games this season coming into the Iowa game. Barnes has 6 solo tackles and 1 pass deflection before recording his first sack of the season against the Hawkeyes.
Illinois has not beaten Iowa since 2008. Illinois is going to need more plays like this to break the streak. Illinois is 4-1 and is off to a great start in Bret Bielema’s second year as HC.
Iowa and Illinois are currently tied up at six with under three minutes left in the first quarter.
