Terrence Shannon Jr. put some of the blame on himself after Illinois lost to Missouri in the annual Braggin’ Rights game. Shannon spoke about this at the post game presser.

Illinois was beaten soundly on both offense and defense in the loss. Missouri beat Illinois by a score of 93-71. Shannon led the team in scoring against the Tigers with 22 points and also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Shannon realizes that most people are going to blame Brad Underwood for the loss, but the Illinois G stated that some of it should go to the players as well. Shannon knows that as a leader he has to do a better job.

“I gotta be a better leader. I haven’t led the team as I should,” said Shannon. “Coach said a lot of it’s on him, but it’s on the players too. I gotta get the team better & ready to play.”

Shannon and Illinois face off against Bethune-Cookman next on Dec. 29. Tipoff will be at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
