Tommy DeVito’s incredible run seems to have hit a bump in the road.

The former Illinois and Syracuse quarterback was benched in favor of veteran Tyrod Taylor Monday night during the New York Giants’ MNF matchup against the Philidelphia Eagles.

DeVito, who had won over the city of New York for incredible performances against Green Bay Packers and Washington commanders. DeVito led a comeback victory over the Packers, leading the Giants to a game-winning field goal following an incredible late-game drive.

But things started slow in Week 16 for the former Illini. He wasn’t making any overtly costly mistakes, but simply wasn’t enough in a game the Giants must win if they want to keep any semblance of playoff hopes alive.

DeVito was 9/16 for 55 yards, 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions before he was benched.

Some fans were sad to see DeVito’s Linsanity-like run potentially come to an end. Those who felt that way took to social media Monday to air their grievances.
