Trailing 17-10 at halftime, Illinois announced that in the second half it would be without two key pieces.

Quarterback Matt Robinson and defensive lineman Jamal Woods will both miss the second half of Saturday’s game against Purdue.

Robinson left the game after injuring his right foot early on in the game against the Boilermakers.

The team has yet to address why Woods is not coming back into the game. He has been a key piece to the Illini defense and was on BTN’s All-Freshman team as an honorable mention.

Robinson, meanwhile, had struggles early on like the Illini did against Wisconsin in Week 1. The team has more offensive touchdowns with Robinson out of the game.

His replacement is true freshman Deuce Spann. He was a three-star quarterback out of Florida that garnered interest from more than just the Illini. Spann was considered a dual-threat quarterback heading into college. We will see if that’s the case here.
