Illinois (3-5; 2-3 in B1G play) entered into Saturday’s matchup versus the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-4; 0-4 in B1G play) one week after their big 20-18 nine overtime win over #7 Penn State. They also went into Saturday’s matchup shattering two records with their offensive linemen.
Redshirt senior left tackle Vederian Lowe and redshirt senior right tackle Alex Palczewski have each made their 49th career starts for Illinois, breaking a school record of starts.
Lowe has started in 49 of the 50 games played since entering as a true freshman in the 2017 season. Palczewki has started every game he has played in since entering as a true freshman in the 2017 season.

That’s an impressive accomplishment for two offensive linemen, especially in the B1G.
