Illinois has no interest in getting blown out by No. 10 Penn State.

The Illini and Nittany Lions opened B1G play on Friday night in Champaign, with PSU entering the game as a four-touchdown favorite. But Illinois wasn’t intimidated through the first half.

That was never more apparent than on Reggie Corbin’s huge run midway through the second quarter.

With the Illini trailing 21-7 in the second quarter, Corbin took a routine handoff and jaunted 51 yards down the field, putting a few nice moves on some Penn State defenders. The run put Illinois inside the PSU 10 yard-line.

That run led to a touchdown, as quarterback M.J. Rivers hit Ricky Smalling for a six-yard scoring strike three plays later. The score put Illinois within a touchdown of the Lions.

Entering Friday’s game, Corbin was Illinois’ second-leading rusher behind Mike Epstein. Corbin racked up 240 yards and three touchdowns on 37 carries in three games.

Last week, Corbin rushed for a season-high 98 yards against USF.
