WATCH: Illinois defensive lineman ejected after throwing penalty flag at official

Here’s something you don’t see everyday.

In the second half of Saturday’s game between Northwestern and Illinois, Illini defensive lineman Tito Odenigbo was ejected from the contest. That’s not the unusual part. What was unusual, however, was why he was tossed.

It wasn’t for targeting or multiple personal foul penalties. No, Odenigbo was ejected for throwing a penalty flag at an official. No, that isn’t a mistake.

The game was getting a bit out of control as Northwestern separated itself nice from the Illini. As frustration set in, Odenigbo picked up a penalty flag that was thrown after a play and tossed it in the direction of the official.

No, he wasn’t just trying to give it back to him.

It was strange, but that’s an action that will get you tossed every single time.
