Illinois freshman tight end Louis Dorsey was turning some heads on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

First, made a nice catch early in the third quarter and was able to sprint past the Indiana defense all the way to the end zone, giving the Illini on the scoreboard. The pass from Jeff George Jr. to Dorsey went for 77 yards and cut a 14-0 Hoosier lead in half.

Not long after that long touchdown run, Dorsey was George’s target again. The pass was thrown in Dorsey’s direction but was slightly underthrown. That’s when the 6-foot-6 freshman reached his big paw into the air and snagged the ball out of the air.

The catch appropriately gathered several “oohs” and “ahs” inside Memorial Stadium.

Dorsey did stay down on the field after the catch but was able to walk off on his own power.

Dorsey entered Saturday’s game against Indiana as the fourth-leading receiver for the Illini. He had 15 receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He’s caught at least one passes in seven of Illinois’ nine games this season.

But those two catches might be the highlight of his freshman campaign.
