WATCH: In 100th NFL game, Whitney Mercilus picks off Drew Brees for first career interception

Whitney Mercilus has made a career out of terrorizing quarterbacks, but he is used to doing his damage in the backfield.
Entering the 2019 season, Mercilus has 42.5 career sacks and 89 QB hits as a member of the Houston Texans. He has been a consistent contributor for much of his career and is a key member of Houston’s pass rush.
However, Mercilus got the best of New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees a different way Monday night. After dropping into coverage, Mercilus waited until Brees let it fly. Then he jumped the route and made a nice snag for the interception deep in the red zone.
It is Mercilus’ first career interception in his eight-year career. He did not have an interception during his time at Illinois as well. It is also Mercilus’ 100th career NFL game:
