Illinois is 2-1 so far in 2018.

The Fighting Illini started off with a couple wins over Kent State and Western Illinois before losing to USF. Now, for Week 4, Lovie Smith’s group hosts No. 10 Penn State.

There’s no doubt that the Nittany Lions are favored to win the football game. According to mybookie.ag, Penn State is favored by 27.5 points.

Ahead of the game, which takes place at 9 p.m. on Friday and will be broadcasted on FS1, Smith talked with Martin O’Donnell, a color analyst for Illinois football. Toward the end of the interview, O’Donnell asks a question about the unexpected becoming the expected.

He gives no details as to exactly what he means the unexpected to be, so Smith takes it upon himself to talk about how Illinois is not expected to beat Penn State.

Note: Smith talking about the unexpected turning into the expected begins at 6:00
