We have a job opening in college football. The Colorado Buffaloes are looking for new head coach after firing Karl Dorrell. The Buffs are currently winless (0-5) and went 8-15 overall under Dorrell’s leadership.

So who’s it going to be? 247 Sports gave some insight on the top candidates for the job. The list includes former Indiana defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

The 35-year-old is currently the head coach at South Alabama. Wommack has the Jaguars off to a 4-1 start this season in the Sun Belt Conference. Overall, he holds a 9-8 record at South Alabama since taking the job in 2021.

That’s not exactly a whole lot to work with if you’re Colorado. But maybe they are looking for an outside candidate with a five-year window of development.

Colorado hasn’t had a true winning season since 2016. The Buffaloes went 4-2 during the Covid shortened 2020 season. You have to then go back to 2005 for another complete winning season at 7-6.

Good luck if Wommack gets it. He is going to need it.
