Indiana still couldn’t beat Jeff Brohm, regardless of whether he is still at Purdue or not. Brohm is now 5-1 against the Hoosiers in the last six times they’ve faced him.

Indiana is now 1-2 after losing to Louisville at Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s been a rough start for Tom Allen through the first three games. Tayven Jackson suffered his first loss as Indiana’s starter.

Jackson had 299 yards passing with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in the 21-14 loss to the Cardinals. It looks like the Hoosiers can’t escape Jeff Brohm’s wrath.

Here are 3 takeaways from the Week 3 loss:

Tayven Jackson was the right choice for QB1

Tom Allen decided to change things up at quarterback ahead of Week 3. Jackson showed fans why Allen made the decision. Jackson’s first TD pass as the starting quarterback went to Jaylin Lucas, and the Indiana QB put the offense in good positions to make it a game after Indiana was down 21-0.

The Tennessee transfer showed promise in his first start in an Indiana uniform.

Slow starts could hurt Hoosiers in the future

Indiana struggled in the first half and went down 21-0 to the Cardinals. While the offense eventually figured things out, that could get Indiana in trouble further on down the road. Nothing seemed to go Indiana’s way in the first half at Lucas Oil Stadium.

That might be fine against Louisville, but Indiana goes on the road to Maryland and Michigan in its next two B1G games. The Terps and Wolverines may not be as forgiving if this issue continues.

Running game issues still present

The running game is another issue that keeps coming up for Indiana. The offense was held to under 100 yards rushing once again, much like the Ohio State game. The running game came together against Indiana State, but the Sycamores aren’t close to the same level of competition compared to teams like Ohio State and Louisville.

There were some positives and negatives that happened in the loss for Indiana. The Hoosiers face Akron next on Sept. 23 in Bloomington.
