Adam Henry, wide receivers coach at Indiana, is pleased with his group of wideouts heading into the 2022 college football season.

Henry held especially high praise for converted quarterback Donaven McCulley, who will now be catching passes rather than throwing them.

“He’s a big body. He’s very athletic,” Henry told Bloomington Hearld-Times’ Dustin Dopirak. “He has a good catching radius where you have to get up and go get it.”

Henry doubled down on McCulley’s size, which is what makes him so effective in this transition period. On top of that, McCulley is flexible and can be moved around the offense where the Hoosiers see fit.

Another receiver Henry noted was freshman receiver Omar Cooper, a 4-star prospect and one of Indiana’s top recruits in the 2022 cycle. According to Henry, his knowledge of the game this early was a bit surprising.

“He’s progressed well … he has a football IQ. Better than what I thought,” Henry said.
