Adam Henry recently joined the Indiana staff as the program’s co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach on Friday afternoon.

Henry, who was the Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach the last 2 season, has 25 overall seasons of experience with 13 in college and 12 in the NFL.

“I think this is a great program that is on the rise. I’m just happy to be a part of it,” Henry said in comments to the media on Tuesday.

About his coaching philosophy, Henry said he stresses the importance of confidence in receivers, and that it makes a difference in a receiver’s hands and catch radius. Throughout his career, Henry was asked about what it was like to coach Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry, and said they broke 2 Juggs machines because of how much they wanted to work.

About this move to coach the Hoosiers, Henry said he lost his mother and father in the course of 7 months, and he was originally going to leave coaching and stake some time away, but Tom Allen convinced him this would be a good fit.

Henry originally coached at McNeese State, then went on to coach with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns before Dallas.

Henry said his time at McNeese State before he was an NFL coach is still something he could draw upon. A lot of the guys he coached there hadn’t been wide receivers yet, and converted from other positions.
