Archie Miller discusses outlook for Indiana's strong freshman class
Indiana is getting set to start its basketball season with a special group of freshmen along for the ride.
Head coach Archie Miller and his staff definitely did their work on the recruiting trail to put together a solid 2020 recruiting class. According to 247 Sports, the four-man class of the Hoosiers was ranked 15th in the nation and second in the B1G, trailing just Michigan in the conference.
The class was headlined by five-star point guard Khristian Lander, the top player out of Indiana and the No. 27 player nationally for the recruiting cycle.
The other headliner of Indiana’s class is small forward Jordan Geronimo. Geronimo was a four-star prospect and top-100 player, rated as the No. 97 player nationally. Listed at 6-foot-6, Geronimo has nice size for the collegiate game.
Rounding out the class was a pair of three-star shooting guards in Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway, both of which are in-state recruits from Indiana. Leal and Galloway were also ranked as top-150 players, giving Indiana four such players for the 2020 class.
During a media session Monday, Miller discussed the current outlook for what he sees from his strong freshman class:
Archie Miller on the four freshmen. Starts with Anthony Leal, says he's put himself in a position to possibly contribute.
"He's a tremendous worker, he has unamatched work ethic. … If you work as hard as Anthony, you're going to be successful at anything." #iubb

Archie Miller on Khristian Lander, the 5-star recruit who reclassified:
"People want him to be something right now … you have to establish that ground level that you can do this, and then you can get to this and that."
Says he's learning to play harder, more physical. #iubb

Archie Miller does say Khristian Lander is going to get "thrown in the fire" and that should "speed his progression up."
Miller says he hit four 3-pointers in the scrimmage. Didn't even hit the rim. #iubb

Hopefully this group proves capable of doing big things with the Hoosiers.
