Confusion in Bloomington? Multiple reports disagree on status of Indiana job
There’s been some movement on Indiana’s head coaching search
According to Rivals’ Indiana affiliate, the Hoosiers reached an agreement with former Ohio State coach Thad Matta to be the next head coach. However, the report says the deal fell through after Matta failed his physical.
According to @IndianaRivals sources, Indiana and Thad Matta had agreed to a deal for Matta to become the next men's basketball coach at Indiana but after failing his physical, the deal has fallen through.

Matta stepped down from his post at Ohio State after the 2016-17 season, citing health concerns.
However, reports from 247Sports’ Indiana affiliate and the Indianapolis Star are refuting that Indiana and Matta came to an agreement.
Source within IU's athletic department tells me reports Indiana agreed a deal with former Ohio State coach Thad Matta that then fell apart due to medical concerns are wide of the mark. Search remains ongoing. #iubb

Regarding Thad Matta: There was no agreement and there was no physical, a source close to the athletic department tells Peegs.
The source reached out and made this point with considerable emphasis. #iubb

Zach Osterman’s subsequent story in the Indianapolis Star indicates that it’s unclear whether or not Matta and IU have spoken formally about the vacant head coaching job.
Matta was Ohio State’s coach from 2004 to 2017. He made two Final Fours with the Buckeyes and won multiple regular season and postseason Big Ten championships.
