Connor Bazelak might be leaving Indiana, but he’ll be finishing his career in the midwest. Bazelak announced that he would be transferring to Bowling Green for the 2023 season via his Twitter account on Friday.

A former 2-year starter at Missouri, Bazelak transferred to Indiana last season in hopes of being the long-term replacement for Michael Penix Jr. Winning the starting job out of fall camp, the redshirt junior completed 55.2% for  2,312 yards passing and 13 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

Bazelak would be replaced by Dexter Williams late in the season against Ohio State. Williams was expected to be the Hoosiers’ starter entering next season, but suffered a dislocated knee and structural damage in the season finale against Purdue. He underwent surgery last month and is currently rehabbing the injury entering offseason workouts.

Last season, the Falcons started both Matt McDonald and Camden Orth en route to a 6-7 finish. Bazelak is expected to compete with Orth for the starting job in 2023 following McDonald’s graduation.
