Curt Cignetti is officially the new head coach in Indiana, the Hoosiers confirmed in a Thursday press release!

Cignetti officially heads to Bloomington after reports began to surface Thursday morning. He joins the Hoosiers after a 5-year run at James Madison, helping guide the program during the transition from FCS to FBS.

“I am excited to lead this program forward and change the culture, mindset, and expectation level of Hoosier football,” Cignetti said. “I want to thank Director of Athletics Scott Dolson and President Pam Whitten, and I look forward to working with both in building something special at IU. Both share my vision and belief that big things are ahead for the IU program.”

During the 2023 season, James Madison went 11-1 overall in the second season of FBS play for the program. The Dukes also went 8-3 in 2022 during their first season at the FBS level.

Overall, Cignetti was 52-9 at James Madison with 3 seasons coming at the FCS level. The Dukes made the FCS playoffs every season from 2019-21 and advanced to the championship game in 2019.

Overall, Cignetti is 119-35 as a head coach with stops at D-II IUP, FCS level Elon and James Madison. He previously spent time at Pitt, NC State and Alabama, including 4 seasons as Nick Saban’s WRs coach in Tuscaloosa.
