Curt Cignetti is not backing down from his belief about Indiana’s potential chance at the College Football Playoff. However, it’s more important for the Hoosiers to regroup and prepare to face Purdue in Rivalry Week.

During his opening comments at Monday’s press conference, Cignetti chose to simply say Indiana is “in a good spot.” Beyond that fact, the Hoosiers need to make sure they finalize a strong season at 11-1 by taking care of the Boilermakers on Saturday.

“Said what I said about the College Football Playoff after the game. The only thing I’m going to say today is we’re sitting in a good spot,” claimed Cignetti. “But we’ve got to take care of business. And that’s that.”

After the loss to Ohio State, Cignetti was asked about whether or not he felt the Hoosiers still deserved consideration for the Playoff. He responded by asking if that was a real question, but his true thoughts were clear that Cignetti feels IU belongs.

Indiana also received good news on Saturday as a trio of SEC fighting to remain in contention all fell to unranked opponents in Week 13. That chaos clears up some of the picture for the time being, and the Hoosiers should be squarely in the bracket when the next rankings drop on Tuesday.
