Matt Stauder loves Indiana football. That’s something you can never question about the Hoosier manager.
Despite being four months into treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Stauder still plans to be a vital member of the Indiana football program. He has no plans of letting cancer keep him away from the field.
And you can’t keep members of Stauder’s football family from supporting their beloved manager.
After being diagnosed with the disease in April, according to the Kokomo Perspective, senior running back Ricky Brookins rushed to help his friend in need, setting up a GoFundMe page to help with Stauder’s medical costs.
By late August, the page had raised over $23,000.
Stauder is dedicated to Indiana football and to beating Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But he’s not fighting it alone. He’s got the full support of his Indiana teammates behind him.
The relationship between Stauder, Brookins and Indiana football was highlighted in a recent feature piece by Larra Overton of FOX 59 in Indianapolis.
The season hasn’t even kicked off but Indiana has already provided us with one of the best stories of the year.
