Donaven McCulley continues to impress at Indiana after switching to WR
Donaven McCulley is working on making the move from quarterback to wide receiver for Indiana. He continues to impress coaches and teammates in fall camp and could have a big presence with the offense in 2022.
Originally a 4-star QB in the 2021 recruiting class, the 6-foot-5 McCulley was forced into playing time as a true freshman due to injuries. Though he struggled at times to throw the ball (McCulley posted a 42.7% completion percentage), his athletic ability was evident when the ball was in his hands.
Now, his switch to wide receiver is going well with Tom Allen spotlighting his work on Friday.
Allen on McCulley: “Donaven can be special. It’s a pretty good consensus from everyone who’s watched him in practice. … He’s a big presence. And just just as a receiver catching the ball, but once he catches it, as a runner.”

Transfer QB Connor Bazelak also praised McCulley, saying the new WR is showing a willingness to get into the dirty work and block on the outside.
Bazelak on McCulley: “He’s willing to go in there and block and do the dirty work. I think that shows up in film.”

We’ll see how McCulley looks when we get to the season, but the early signs are promising.
