Dusty May is a native of Terre Haute, Indiana, and a former student manager at Indiana University under former head coach Mike Davis, so naturally, he’s been heavily linked to the soon-to-be vacant Hoosiers basketball job.

After opening up a 43-27 lead at halftime, May and Michigan held off the Hoosiers 70-67 at Assembly Hall on Saturday. And much of the questioning in postgame was around whether May — who led Florida Atlantic to a Final Four in 2023 before eventually heading to Michigan — would be interested in a return to Bloomington after Mike Woodson steps down after the season.

“That stuff’s crazy,” May said. “I love being at Michigan. I love our team. We’re fighting like crazy. That’s it. This place is my foundation, but I’m very, very happy at the University of Michigan.”

Was there any message for Michigan fans concerned that May could leave for the Hoosiers’ job after 1 season?

“There’s nothing I could say that’s going to make this one way or the other,” May said. “I love being at Michigan. That hasn’t crossed my mind other than just what friends and family said, and to be honest, I’ve eliminated all of that.”

Michigan, winners of 4 straight, hosts Purdue in Ann Arbor on Tuesday.
