ESPN’s Football Power Index likes Indiana to defeat Maryland in convincing fashion on Saturday.

FPI says the Hoosiers have a 88.1 percent chance to beat the Terps, who haven’t played since Nov. 7. Maryland had to cancel its last two games due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Meanwhile, Indiana is coming off a 42-35 defeat to Ohio State — its first loss of the season.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 491 yards and five touchdowns against the Buckeyes. If the Terps’ secondary isn’t prepared, he could build on his lead as the Big Ten’s most prolific passer.

Receiver Ty Fryfogle is a big part of Penix’s success. He’s the Big Ten’s leader in receiving yards at 128.4 yards per game despite a slow start to the season.

For Maryland, it starts and ends with quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

In the season opener vs. Northwestern, Tagovailoa threw three interceptions and the Terps got blown out. In two games since, Tagovailoa threw six touchdowns and just one pick and Maryland cruised to a pair of easy wins.

Indiana will be fighting for position in the College Football Playoff rankings and a potential bid in a NY6 bowl game.

This game kicks off at 12 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
