ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game before every week.

After a wild Week 7 in the B1G, the model has released its predictions for the upcoming Week 8 slate. Included in the predictions is the much-anticipated Nebraska-Indiana matchup.

The model sees Indiana as a big favorite, giving the team a 76.7% chance to win the conference matchup. This means Nebraska is getting just a 23.3% chance to pull off the upset in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers have been one of college football’s best stories in 2024. The team is undefeated, sitting at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in B1G play. The Hoosiers have wins over FIU, Western Illinois, UCLA, Charlotte, Maryland, and Northwestern. None of those games were particularly close, either, with the Hoosiers having an average margin of victory of +24.4 over their opponents.

Nebraska, meanwhile, has also improved over their recent seasons. The Huskers are 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, with their lone loss coming to Illinois. The Huskers have wins over UTEP, Colorado, Northern Iowa, Purdue, and Rutgers.

These teams last played each other in 2022, when the Huskers picked up a 35-21 victory. Overall, these teams have played 22 times, with the Hoosiers winning 10, the Huskers winning 9, and the game ending in a tie 3 times.

Whoever wins this game will have to feel great about the position they’re in. If the Hoosiers win, they remain perfect and keep their Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff hopes alive. The Huskers, meanwhile, would insert themselves back into the conversation with a win.

This game was announced as FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff  Game of the Week. The teams will kick off from Memorial Stadium on Saturday at Noon ET.
