Everything Tom Allen had to say following Indiana's shutout loss to Penn State
There was a lot of preseason hype for head coach Tom Allen and his Indiana Hoosiers. Unfortunately, Indiana took its third loss of the season after being shut out on the road 24-0 by No. 4 Penn State.
Indiana was outgained by Penn State in total yards accounted for 408-to-264 and first downs accounted for 20-to-12. Offensively, Indiana had no answers against the tenacious defense of Penn State as the Hoosiers were 3-of-14 in third-down conversions.
Things got worse for Indiana as the Hoosiers lost their starting quarterback in Michael Penix Jr. in the third quarter due to a shoulder injury. Indiana will be on bye-week as they try to regroup and fix their mistakes with a potential bowl season still in play.
Here’s what Allen had to say about his team’s performance:
Allen: "I'm just very disappointed in our performance. Especially of our offense."

Allen says he went for the fourth down in the first quarter because you have to score touchdowns on the road. Kicked the field goal (which was blocked) later because they just wanted to get some points on the board to have something positive.

Allen said they intentionally made sure Ty Fryfogle fair caught every punt hit at him. Said they were considering another punt returner but PSU's punter kicked the ball really high and they liked Fryfogle's ability to simply catch the ball than their other option.
