A former Indiana OC and Tom Allen assistant is reportedly in discussions to take over the head coaching vacancy at Washington.

That is former IU OC and current Fresno State head coach Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer joined the Hoosiers for the 2019 season after a 2-year stint leading the offense at Fresno.

It did not take long for DeBoer to return out west, landing the head coaching job after just one season in Bloomington. He has also turned heads after a 9-3 record in his 2nd season.

According to John Brice with Football Scoop, DeBoer “has emerged as a strong candidate at Washington” per multiple sources. The Huskies are looking for their next head coach after parting ways with Jimmy Lake.

DeBoer has definitely been a hot commodity over the past 5 years. From 2017-18, he was a part of a Fresno State team that won 22 games in 2 seasons. In 2019, Indiana’s offense averaged 31.8 points per game.

Now, DeBoer has gone 12-6 over his first few seasons as an FBS head coach and could be looking at an even bigger gig for 2022.
