Former Indiana coach Archie Miller has been hired as the basketball coach at Rhode Island.

Miller was the basketball coach at Indiana from 2017 to 2021. He was fired on March 15, 2021 after the Hoosiers failed to receive an NCAA Tournament bid last season. He had a 67-58 record with the Hoosiers, and a 33-45 B1G conference record. Before Indiana, Miller was also the head coach at Dayton from 2011 to 2017.

Here’s what Miller had to say about his new job per a release from Rhode Island:

“My family and I are beyond excited for the opportunity to to lead the men’s basketball program at the University of Rhode Island,” Miller said. “President Marc Parlange and Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn are aligned in a strong vision for URI Basketball, which was everything for us. URI is a diverse, world class university. We are so excited to be a part of it in every way.”

Miller’s contract with Rhode Island is for 5 years. Perhaps he’ll have better success with Rhode Island than he did with Indiana.
