Michael Penix Jr. has found his next home.

The former Indiana quarterback spent 4 seasons in Bloomington with the Hoosiers, bursting onto the scene in 2020, but he entered the transfer portal shortly after a frustrating 2021 season came to an end. On Tuesday, he announced on Instagram that he’s heading west to play for Washington.

With the Huskies, Penix is reuniting with former IU offensive coordinator and new UW head coach Kalen DeBoer. He’ll have 2 seasons of eligibility with Washington.

Penix earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors in 2020 after leading the Hoosiers to a 6-2 record and the Outback Bowl. Indiana opened that season 4-0 with wins over ranked opponents in Penn State and Michigan. Penix threw for 1,645 yards and 14 touchdowns in 6 games before suffering a season-ending injury.

In 2021, he started the first 5 games of the year but struggled until a shoulder injury put him back on the shelf. Penix threw 3 interceptions in a season-opening loss to Iowa and finished with 7 picks against just 4 touchdowns in his 5 games.
