Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Pat Coogan is officially moving to a new destination in the transfer portal.

On Friday, Coogan revealed that he is leaving the national runner-up to transfer to the Big Ten and Indiana. The Fighting Irish and Hoosiers opened the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff in South Bend with a game that was controlled by Notre Dame throughout.

Now, Coogan will head to Bloomington to play for Curt Cignetti after 4 seasons at Notre Dame.

After redshirting in 2021, Coogan went on to become a 3-year contributor and 2-year starter for Marcus Freeman’s program across 2023-24. It’s an intriguing move for Coogan, especially after helping Notre Dame play for a national championship this season.

Coogan is not the only key piece of the offensive line looking to transfer out. Rocco Spindler is also looking for a new destination, and the Big Ten is also on Spindler’s radar.

According to a recent report, Spindler is being targeted by a trio consisting of Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska for the 2025 season. With Coogan already choosing the Hoosiers, it will be interesting to see if he can help pull Spindler to Bloomington as well.

We’ll see what becomes of Spindler, but Coogan will reinforce Indiana’s offensive line for 2025.
