One of the top recruits of Indiana’s 2018 recruiting class has been named Mr. Football in Indiana after a sensational senior season at the high school level.

The Indianapolis Star announced that Ben Davis High (Indianapolis) standout quarterback Reese Taylor was Indiana’s Mr. Football for the 2017 season. The selection comes just week after Taylor led his team to an undefeated season and a state title.

He tweeted his appreciation for the award on Wednesday afternoon.

Taylor had a tremendous senior season, throwing for 3,150 yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 73 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 802 yards and 15 scores for the year.

During his career at Ben Davis, Taylor accounted for 9,708 total yards and 124 total touchdowns and broke numerous records.

According to 247Sports, Taylor is a three-star prospect, ranking as the seventh-best player from Indiana and the 44th ranked athlete in the 2018 class. He’s been committed to Indiana since early August.

He may not have the star power of a lot of his peers in the 2018 class, but Taylor is a proven athlete with a nose for the end zone. He’ll be a true asset for Tom Allen and the Hoosiers in the coming years.
