This is probably the most confident team Indiana’s football program has ever fielded. Coming off an 8-5 campaign in 2019, the Hoosiers are ready to show the world they’re capable of competing with every team on the schedule this fall.

Running back Stevie Scott says Saturday’s Week 1 showdown against No. 8 Penn State gives the Hoosiers a great opportunity to show the world what they’re capable of doing on the field. He couldn’t be more excited.

“We are all excited to show the nation what we’ve been doing this whole offseason,” Scott said, per Paul Gable of TheHoosier.com.

Scott was the leading rusher for the Hoosiers last season, piling up 845 yards and 10 touchdowns on 178 carries in Kalen DeBoer’s offense during the 2019 season. He also caught 26 passes for 211 yards and an additional score.

The comments made from Scott are felt by Penn State head coach James Franklin, who knows his team is in for a challenge on Saturday.

“This is the best Indiana football team that we’ve seen, by far,” Franklin said, per Audrey Snyder of The Athletic.

Indiana came close to upsetting Penn State in Happy Valley in 2019, falling 34-27 at Beaver Stadium. The Hoosiers have not defeated the Franklin-led Nittany Lions, with IU’s last win over PSU coming in 2013.

Kickoff between the two teams is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
