Indiana entered July 4 with some work to do for the 2024 recruiting class. Early in the day, the Hoosiers picked up one piece for the cycle with a key Edge prospect out of Florida.

The player is Shamar Meikle, a 6-foot-5  and 205-pound recruit out of Miramar High School in Hollywood, Florida. Prior to his commitment, Meikle earned offers from Arkansas State, FAU, Eastern Michigan and Liberty among others.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Meikle is a 3-star recruit and the 88th Edge player in the country for the class of 2024. The Hoosiers were a late offer for Meikle toward the end of May but the push from Tom Allen’s staff was worth it. Meikle took visits to Toledo, Coastal Carolina and Indiana in June before finally pledging the Hoosiers.

Meikle is the first Edge commitment for the Hoosiers in the 2024 recruiting class with Indiana looking to improve on a group that is currently ranked outside the top 50 classes in the country.
