Indiana’s athletic department now has a plan in place to get student-athletes back on campus and begin voluntary workouts for the upcoming academic year. The school released its plan this week.

The Hoosiers’ football squad will be allowed to return to campus and begin voluntary team workouts beginning June 15, with men’s and women’s basketball players starting June 18. Other fall sports will be permitted to return throughout July, staggering the dates for different sports.

“We cannot totally eliminate the risk,” Indiana Athletic Director Fred Glass said. “At least until there is a vaccine, there will be risk. What we can do is have the best doctors give us the best protocols and make sure they are strictly followed. That’s what we’ve done and what we are going to do.”

Several other B1G schools have announced similar plans to allow student-athletes back on campus this month. The NCAA’s moratorium on organized team activities due to the ongoing pandemic ended on June 1.

Indiana is coming off of one of its best seasons on the football field in decades. The Hoosiers finished 8-5 with a 5-4 mark in B1G play.
