Like many Indiana fans, DB Devon Matthews was disappointed with how last season ended. He came back to Bloomington because he wants to right the ship in 2022 per Zach Osterman of Indy Star.
Matthews had 30 solo tackles, and was tied for 1st in interceptions (1) for the Hoosiers last season. He told his safeties coach Jason Jones that what helped him make his decision was because of how he wanted to finish off his Indiana career.
“The reason that he chose to come to Indiana was because he wanted to come here and do something different,” Jones said. “He said, ‘Coach, we didn’t finish the right way. I want to come back, and we’re gonna finish this thing the right way.””
Indiana will be looking to change its perception around the B1G in 2022. That will be 1 of the driving factors for Matthews and many others on the team as they know they have some work to do. The past is in the rear view mirror for the Hoosiers, who are now focusing on what’s ahead of them.
“Last year was unacceptable. We’re pushing all that to the side. We’re not focused on last year. We’re focused on now, and what we’ve got to do to get better,” Matthews said. “Job’s not done.”
