Jaylin Williams took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to announce he plans to return for the 2022 season.

Williams is a senior defensive back from Memphis, Tennessee, who has spent his entire career with Indiana. He has been there since 2018 and has 112 total tackles, 17 pass deflections, 2 sacks, and 5 interceptions in his career. He made appearances in 11 games this season for the Hoosiers.

Here’s what Williams said in his Twitter post:

“First I want thank God for giving me the opportunity and blessing me to be able to continue to do what I love,” Williams wrote. “I want to thank my family and my coaches for being supportive and always being in my corner. Also, I want to thank the fans because without y’all there is no Hoosier Nation and appreciate y’all’s support even though this past season did not go as planned and y’all stay strong through it all.

“I would not change a thing about my career here at Indiana except that it is not done! I came here to help build this program to the best of its abilities. After talking and praying with my family, friends and my coaches I have another year of eligibility and I will use my final year to finish what we started. I am excited to have another year with my brothers. The sky is the limit!”

Williams had 41 total tackles and 11 pass deflections in 2021.  While Indiana football has already had a couple of players transfer out, Williams will be one of those who will be staying for his final year of eligibility.
