An Indiana defensive lineman is opting for the transfer portal after the 2021 season. Gavin McCabe, who was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2018, announced he’ll be testing the waters.

McCabe appeared in four games during his tenure with Indiana. The 6-foot-4, 291-pound strongside defensive end received 28 offers coming out of high school. While in high school, McCabe was a first-team all-state, first-team all-area, East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) Defensive Most Valuable Player, and two-time All-ESCC honoree.

Indiana finished the 2021 season with a 2-10 record and lost every game in B1G play. It was a regression after the Hoosiers posted back-to-back winning seasons in 2019 and 2020. Indiana went 8-5 in 2019 and then 6-2 in the pandemic shortened 2020 campaign.

Indiana will kick off next season with a home game vs. B1G rival Illinois on Sept. 3.
