Indiana isn’t expected to compete for the Big Ten East division title or B1G Championship. However, recruiting better players and student-athletes into your system to make your program better can catapult you into a better spot.

Tom Allen and the Hoosiers are trying to do this, of course, and freshman DL Antoine Whitner — listed as an athlete in high school — is from IMG Academy in Florida, a school that commonly churns out high-profile recruits year in and year out.

Unfortunately, it took a long time for Whitner to actually be be cleared. As of a couple weeks ago, Indiana was still waiting to hear if Whitner would be good to go or not.

On Thursday, the good news finally came:

Indiana’s 2019 season is slated to begin on Aug. 31 at home against Ball State.
