Indiana guard with more than 100 career appearances opts for transfer portal
Indiana basketball is losing a veteran contributor via the transfer portal.
Friday morning, guard Rob Phinisee announced on Twitter that he is entering the portal. He will leave the Hoosiers as a grad transfer for one final season in 2022-23.
“Hoosier Nation, I’d like to thank you all for your continued support through all the ups and downs these past 4 years,” wrote Phinisee in his note. “Through it all you have stuck with me and supported me to continue my journey.”

Phinisee originally came to Indiana as a 4-star recruit and the No. 4 player out of Indiana via the 2018 recruiting class. In 4 seasons with the Hoosiers, Phinisee appeared in 111 games.
Phinisee started 69 games over the course of his first 3 seasons. During the 2021-22 season, Phinisee made 25 appearances but came off the bench for Mike Woodson. He departs with career averages of 6.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 35% from the floor.
