Four-star guard Jakai Newton will made his commitment announcement on Oct. 22 and he’s joining Indiana. Newton’s final three included Indiana, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.

Newton is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard from Georgia. Newton made his choice live on CBS Sports HQ:

Newton, the No. 67 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite, has been complimentary of Indiana and new coach Mike Woodson.

“It just feels like a home and the players he has coached,” Newton said via 247Sports. “He has coached a lot of successful players and there are things he brings outside of basketball too.”

The 63-year-old Woodson is an Indiana alum who has served as an NBA head coach with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.

Indiana posted a 12-15 record last season in the final campaign for former coach Archie Miller. It was Indiana’s first losing season since 2010-11.

Indiana tips off this season with a home matchup vs. Eastern Michigan on Nov. 9 (6:30 p.m. EST/BTN). Indiana will begin B1G play when they welcome visiting Nebraska on Dec. 4 (time TBD/BTN).
