Indiana hoops nets pledge from highly-touted 4-star combo guard out of Georgia
Four-star guard Jakai Newton will made his commitment announcement on Oct. 22 and he’s joining Indiana. Newton’s final three included Indiana, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.

Newton, the No. 67 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite, has been complimentary of Indiana and new coach Mike Woodson.
“It just feels like a home and the players he has coached,” Newton said via 247Sports. “He has coached a lot of successful players and there are things he brings outside of basketball too.”
The 63-year-old Woodson is an Indiana alum who has served as an NBA head coach with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
Indiana posted a 12-15 record last season in the final campaign for former coach Archie Miller. It was Indiana’s first losing season since 2010-11.
Indiana tips off this season with a home matchup vs. Eastern Michigan on Nov. 9 (6:30 p.m. EST/BTN). Indiana will begin B1G play when they welcome visiting Nebraska on Dec. 4 (time TBD/BTN).
